Katherine Ann Swain was born in Milwaukee in 1954 and graduated from Custer High School in 1972. Katherine met her husband, Daryl, and moved to Beloit where they started a family. When her children were preteens, Katherine made the decision to enroll in college. In 1988, she fulfilled her life-long dream of becoming a teacher by graduating from UW-Whitewater with a degree in elementary education. She began her career in the Parkview School District and retired in 2016.
Katherine has always had a strong belief that education is empowering. It is the passion of this belief that has led her to create the Katherine Ann Swain Scholarship Fund.
