David Campfield Jr.

David Campfield Jr. worked for over 50 years in Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin in residential and commercial carpentry and construction. Prior to committing to a career in construction, he graduated from Beloit Memorial High School. He then attended UW-Rock County. He completed a carpentry (construction) apprenticeship through the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Union Local 792. David was employed by Sjostrom & Sons Inc., Rockford, Illinois for over 38 years, initially as a Carpenter and eventually Project Superintendent. David’s legacy can be observed in the Stateline area where he was integral in the construction or remodel of Woodward Governor, Rock Valley College, Rockford Memorial Hospital, Rockford City Hall, Target, Peak Fitness, Burpee Museum, Rosecrance, Westminister Presbyterian Church, Caterpillar and many additional projects. He enjoyed working with skilled trades people and the challenge of the job.

Criteria:

  • Be a graduate or graduating senior from School District of Beloit or The Lincoln Academy
  • Be pursuing a career as a carpenter
  • GPA of at least 2.5 for graduating seniors
