Nilah I. Schenck Scholarship

Nilah Schenck was a lifetime Beloit citizen. She was born in 1924 and lived until she was 84. She graduated from Beloit Memorial High School in 1943. She worked as a draftsman for Fairbanks Morse. Nilah had a love for art and was an accomplished artist. She sold many of her oil paintings. She was commissioned by many people to paint lampshades for antique lamps as well as various other china pieces. This scholarship was established out of her desire to leave behind a legacy to help students with a desire to pursue a career in art or art education.

Criteria:

  • A local high school senior or graduate of a local high school
  • A student pursuing a post-secondary degree in area such as, but not exclusive to, Art, Art Design, Graphic Arts, or Art Education
  • Art related classes in high school are a pre-requisite for consideration
